Wearing Blushed Nudes – the Colour of Summer
While I am not the one to follow trends just because they are, you know, in trend, there are certain colours which will never seem too many in my wardrobe. The usual suspects are whites and blacks and blues. I can never get tired of those. However, I realised that whatever fashion bits I have bought in August seem to be in the shades of blushed nudes. And I am not complaining!
Whether you choose to call them Rose Quartz or Dusty Pink or Pinky Nudes – the Blushed nude tones were hard to miss this summer. Universally flattering, this colour is soft, feminine and pretty. It’s not blaringly pink, it’s not boringly nude – just a hint of rosy blush. A colour that would appeal to most of us, I believe.
So, here’s a quick round-up of the things I bought in this pretty colour.
Clothing
I bought this top from Oasis and I must confess it was an impulse buy. I was casually browsing in the shop, I tried this on and well, you know what happened next. Usually, I am very good with window-shopping, not this time though 😀
It’s perfect for summer because a) it’s sleeveless and b) it’s loosely fitted. The blue embroidered peter-pan collar is what sold it to me. It’s fun and it’s different and I have never owned any peter-pan-collared tops prior to this.
Footwear
I am not comfortable in heels. And honestly, I have never put in a lot of effort either. I wear flats, all the time. So, I had decided that I needed to get out of my comfort zone and push myself to try something new. With that aim in mind, I set out to find myself a pair of heels I would not break my leg in. It took me quite a long time to find such heels. Now that’s the problem with me. Either I buy on a whim or I deliberate for too long. There is no in-between for me 😀 And then I finally found these pretty ladies in Dune. Let’s just say that I did not deliberate this time around.
The mid-height block heels and strappy design ensure that the sandals nicely secure my feet and I am less scared of tripping down 😉 The rosy neutral colour means that they go with mostly everything in my wardrobe. And I love the fact that I can easily wear them with my traditional Indian clothes as well. I am happy as a lark!
Bag
Now for the rosiest of them all, may I present my new Coccinelle bag! It’s a gift from my cousin and I can’t thank her enough. It’s ever so slightly pinker than blushed but looks beautiful when worn with neutral outfits.
The gold hardware adds a touch of glam without being too glaring. Size-wise, it’s not too big nor too small. It’s definitely not an everyday bag! In fact, I recently wore it for a friend’s baby shower where the theme was white, blue and pink. Handy, eh?
So, what do you think of these lovely new additions to my wardrobe? Like ’em? Let me know in your comments!
