Last Saturday I finally made it to the much-hyped Cereal Killer Cafe in London.
It had been on my “Restaurant & Cafe Wishlist” for the longest time. Yes, I have a “Restaurant & Cafe Wishlist”. Stop rolling your eyes there!
Cereal Killer Cafe is a trendy cafe based in Shoreditch, the trendy neighbourhood of London.
As soon as I entered the cafe, I was greeted by a riot of colours. The walls were lined with boxes of cereal, and memorabilia from the eighties and the nineties. And of course, there were brick walls and shabby chic distressed furniture.
So, here’s the idea. As the name suggests, they serve cereal. Breakfast, lunch or dinner – cereal it is. Sounds ridiculous? The cool thing is that you can choose from over 120 different types of cereal from all over the world. And then choose from 30 different types of milk. And then finally choose from 20 toppings. Sounds overwhelming? To be honest, I did get a little overwhelmed.
Why, you ask. After all, it’s just a bowl of cereal, right? But there’s just sooo much choice! Serious cereal lovers would drool over this place and be spoilt for choice. I felt a teeny bit like a deer caught in the headlights LOL
After much deliberating, I finally settled on a medium bowl of Kellogg’s Special K Vanilla Almond with Hazelnut milk and fresh blueberries, while my partner ordered the feckin nut case cereal cocktail. We quite enjoyed the overall combination.
For a bowl of cereal, it’s not cheap. But it’s a fun and novel concept and definitely worth a shot once. Would I go again? Well, probably not. How about you?
