Liberty is an iconic department store in London and is certainly one of my favourite buildings here. It is a Grade II* listed building which is beautiful, beautiful both from inside as well as the outside. Built in the mock-Tudor style, it is constructed from the timbers of two ships – the HMS Impregnable and the HMS Hindustan.
Liberty is a huge (massive, really) store which started out by selling fabric from Oriental East and India. And today, it is selling everything from clothing, jewellery, makeup to furniture and homeware. In fact, even flowers! The first thing you see before even entering the store is their florist section – a welcome treat to the eyes for sure.
Liberty is best known for its gorgeous (usually) floral signature prints. Their prints are dotted throughout the store in the form of scarves, stationery and bolts and bolts of fabric.
What I love about Liberty the most is the way they display the products. Their clever use of antique furniture, fireplaces, art objects, lights and bold colours is just so attractive. All this while maintaining the basic wooden theme throughout.
Here, let me take you on a tour through the store and I am sure you’ll love it too! We have a lot of ground to cover, well 6 floors to be precise. So let’s get going 🙂
