I have been slowly and steadily buying a few items and equally slowly and steadily waiting for Spring to arrive in the UK. I think it finally has and I am ready to share with you what’s new in my spring wardrobe this year.
Floral Midi Dress (Reserved)
When I first saw this dress (posted by Olivia from What Olivia Did), it was love at first sight. I had to have it! I had never heard of the brand Reserved before and this dress was not available online (it still isn’t – such a shame). So, that very weekend, I made my way to their store on Oxford Street to buy it. Now, it’s very rare for me to indulge in impulsive buys these days. I carefully think whether whatever I am buying is needed in my wardrobe and whether it goes with a few other items to create multiple outfits.
For this dress, I made an exception. It’s in my favourite shade of green, it’s quite floral but I love how the pattern is placed, it’s pleated and it has a big white collar. There are so many elements that make it such a statement piece. I can style it with my pink pair of sandals or leather ankle boots.
Similar dresses here and here.
Speaking of shoes – I have bought three pairs this year (and we are only in April). I just needed a bit of an overhaul as I had not bought shoes in a while and have pretty much worn my existing ones to their death.
Leather Boots with Buckles (& Other Stories)
Boots are a staple for me in the UK weather and I pretty much wear them throughout the year, barring the few summer months. A black pair of boots which I believe is a must-have wardrobe piece was actually missing from mine. I have been on a lookout for a great-looking, comfortable pair for so long and finally found the one I liked in & Other Stories. Again, a bit of a bold, statement piece, these ankle length boots have big buckles on it which is quite a deviation from my usual style but I think they look very cool.
Slip on Loafers (Aldo)
These slip on leather loafers from Aldo are a dream if you like wearing flats. The cognac colour is quite unusual, the pointy toe makes it look very chic and most importantly, it has a super soft, almost cushion-like sole. Plus, it gets brownie points because I can wear it casually as well as at work.
Slip on Trainers (Next)
I also needed a pair of super-casual slip on trainers and bought a pair from Next. They are in a colour that I can best describe as “if millennial pink and nude have a baby together” 😀 The white platform is not too high which was important to me and they have a little sparkly patch at the back that adds a tad touch of femininity. I must admit though that I find them a bit tight even after having worn them a few times and can’t wear them continuously for very long hours.
T-shirt Love
T-shirts were never my thing but lately I’ve been feeling quite inclined towards slogan tees. Again, I gave myself ample time before “falling” for the trend because I wanted to make sure it’s not just a phase. I think, by now, you have an idea that I don’t like a cluttered wardrobe and the word “need” usually takes over “want”. My sunny yellow “Bonne Journee” t-shirt is from & Other Stories (no longer available online) and the simple white “To the Moon and back” one is from H&M. This “You are my Sunshine” yellow tee from Asos is quite cute too.
I hope you enjoyed reading this post on what’s new in my spring wardrobe. What’s your spring style? Do let me know in the comments below, I’d love to know 🙂
Cheers,
Ameeta xx
